Scholarships and Financial Aid

Availability of FINANCIAL Aid

Depending on the type of program, students may be able to apply some or all of their financial aid and institutional scholarships towards the cost of their programs.

The Financial Aid office will review each student's eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid. Any program administered by UIU will be eligible for institutional scholarships and grants. Any program operated outside of UIU will NOT be eligible for institutional funds but may be eligible for Title IV assistance. Please check with the Financial Aid office.

Funding for any Study Abroad program disbursed by the Financial Aid office will be available on the regular disbursement schedule for that particular term. Requests for advanced disbursements, for example deposits for a program or airfare, will NOT be approved.

TYPES OF PROGRAMS

UIU-Owned Programs: Students participating in a UIU-owned exchange are able to use all of their financial aid (state and federal) and institutional scholarships towards the costs of the program.

UIU Exchange Programs: Students participating in an exchange program (UIU and UIU-ISEP) are able to use all of their financial aid (state and federal) and institutional scholarships towards the costs of the program.

UIU Faculty-led Programs and Other Short-Term Programs: Students participating in a faculty-led program can only utilize student loans to help cover the costs of the program.

Affiliated and Non-Affiliated Programs: Students participating in a semester and academic year programs are able to use their financial aid (state and federal) only (no institutional scholarships) towards the costs of the program. Students participating in a summer program can only utilize student loans to help cover the costs of the program.
