International Insurance
All students participating in a study, internship, service
learning or research program abroad are required, and automatically
enrolled, in the mandatory UIU International Health Insurance Plan provided by CISI. Other health insurance plans are not accepted.
The cost for the insurance, which will be billed to your
student account, is as follows:
- Semester programs: $250
- Short Term Programs: $75 (if program lasts
longer than a month, please contact educationabroad@uiu.edu)
- Faculty-Led Programs: cost is incorporated into the program fee
-
Once enrolled, you will receive an electronic ID as well as
proof of enrollment in the form of a letter. However, if you need a more
specific letter for student visa purposes, please contact our office. In
addition, please familiarize yourself with CISI's web page as it provides important information about coverage and
procedures when a situation arises.
1. The governments of Australia and New Zealand require all
students to enroll in their health insurance plan as a requirement for
participation in their study abroad program. As a result, students attending
these countries will not be required to enroll in the UIU International Health Insurance
Plan.
2. Students attending a program in Puerto Rico will not be
enrolled in the UIU International Health Insurance Plan as Puerto Rico is part
of the United States and American health insurance plans are widely accepted.
3. Students attending an ISEP program will be required to
participate in the ISEP health insurance program. As a result, students will
not be required to enroll in the UIU International Health Insurance Plan.
4. Students attending a study abroad program in which the
international health insurance is included as part of the program fees will not
be required to enroll in the UIU International Health Insurance Plan.
